Written in minuscule script in black ink.
Punctuation includes full point, comma, colon, colon and dash, and the mark of interrogation. Several instances of quotation marks in the margins.
Titles in red.
Trimmed presumably during the manuscript's rebinding of the late 19th or early 20th century, thus marring marginal drawings. Insect damage, random holes, and taped repairs. Water and grease stains.
Binding of half-cloth and paper over wood dated to the late 19th or early 20th century was removed in 2015. The manuscript was rebound in brown tooled goatskin with a linen lining over oak boards.
The manuscript is judged to have been written in either Italy or Greece, and is dated to the 16th century.
Provenance from the 16th to the 19th century is unknown. The manuscript may have belonged to Joannes Adam, who lived in the Greek region of Epirus, and who illustrated 10 of the texts (his colophon, fol. 224r; signature fol. 79v). The priest Brapos, whom Adam noted was his uncle, may also have been a one-time owner.

Acquired by the University of Chicago in 1930 from bookseller Athenas Grivakis with funds from an anonymous donor.
